Common Questions

What's on the Coast DAB Block 8B multiplex?
Block 8B carries multiple stations including ROCK.SCOT. The multiplex is operated by Coast DAB and serves the Inverclyde and west-central Scotland area.
Do I need a special DAB+ radio?
Yes — ROCK.SCOT broadcasts in DAB+ (not the older DAB standard). Most radios sold in the UK from around 2016 onwards are DAB+ compatible. Check your radio's manual or look for the DAB+ logo.
Can I listen in my car?
Yes, if your car has a DAB+ radio. Most new cars (and many from 2016+) have one as standard. If your car only has FM, you can stream us via Bluetooth/AUX from your phone at rock.scot/stream-player.html.
Is the signal reliable in Greenock and Gourock?
Yes — we have a transmitter right here in Greenock providing strong, dedicated local coverage across the Greenock/Gourock/Port Glasgow corridor. Inverclyde is one of our flagship live areas with the strongest signal in our footprint.
I live in Helensburgh — will I get signal?
Helensburgh is covered by both the Bonhill (Alexandria) transmitter and our Greenock site across the Clyde. Signal should be good in most of the town. Properties shielded by hills may see weaker reception — try online streaming as backup.
What if I'm in Dunoon?
Dunoon receives signal across the Firth from our Greenock transmitter. Coverage is strong along the seafront and central Dunoon. Heading inland or south to Toward, you may experience drop-out — switch to streaming.
